About Us
Jijivisha is a luxury clothing brand in Nepal. The company was started with the purpose of uplifting Nepal and the items that are made here by local artisans. Nepal has some of the finest craftsmanship in the world when it comes to wood carving, brass, and pottery making. We’ve taken that fine attention to detail and applied it to the fashion industry to create a unique sustainable luxury clothing line using traditional artforms that have been passed down from generation to generation.
We have a sustainable approach which includes all natural fibers and natural dyes. We hire small local businesses to work with us to help promote smaller factories. By doing this we prevent overstocking and fabric waste. We try to use all of our scrap fabric and turn it into something truly special. Many of our scraps are used to create purses hand-woven by Hansen’s disease survivors who have been outcaste from their villages.
We started Jijivisha to help create jobs and revive the traditional ways of creating clothing. Each of our buttons are carved individually by hand, and the garments are stitched in a tailoring studio where they are encouraged to focus on quality over quantity. We are proud to say that we stop by these factories weekly to check on the individual who make this collection to ensure their work conditions and happiness.
It’s our mission to show the world what Nepali artisans are capable of and to produce a line that is not only beautiful, but also good for the environment and the people who make them.
